The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons gives that  more and more of the nation’s males are turning  to cosmetic surgery to hold back the years.

The number of men having tummy tucks in 2007 increased 61 per cent over those who had surgery in 2006.

The study also revealed a 27 per cent rise in the number of men who preferred surgery for breast reduction.

According to the audit report, 224 operations mean a 10-fold rise since 2002.

It reveals that the numbers of men having nose jobs increased by more than third, while liposuction increased by 18 per cent in 12 months.

Figures for both sexes indicate that 36 per cent more facelifts were carried out last year than the previous year.

Experts believe that plastic surgery is becoming more popular among men because modern culture places a greater emphasis on bodily perfection and youthful appearance.

" Now men are being bombarded with the sort of role models that women have been for decades," the Telegraph quoted Rajiv Grover, a consultant plastic surgeon and the secretary of BAAPS, as saying.
