Intensified Drive Against Banned Tobacco Items in Impala
In an intense drive against shopkeepers selling banned tobacco products, the RPF/PLA in Impala seized a large quantity of the same such as Talab, Khaini and Mithamana, which were relegated to flames.


The special drive was launched in Khumbong area on January 27 by RPF/PLA. The six accused were paraded in front of the media persons in Senapati district today. The authorities are acting  on definite information regarding  some local shopkeepers who continued  to sell the banned tobacco products.

On interrogation, it was found that the tobacco products have been secured from Ibemnu of Konthoujam and also from Biren and Saroj who run grocery shops at Sareng Yonpham of Khwairamband Bazar .

Ten accused persons were asked to surrender within five days and six shops, which were selling these banned substances, have also been shut down. The spokes person for the authorities has warned  of serious consequences to the shopkeepers  if they fail to surrender within the stipulated deadline.

The spokesperson also warned that any other person who flouted the ban would face dire consequences.
