All possible measures have been undertaken by the Seychelles Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to tackle bird flu pandemic. The FAO organization has given all the necessary help like donating equipment such as protective clothing and disinfecting equipment to staffs from the Department of Natural resources. This done as they would be the first line of defence to control a local outbreak. The FAO’s country correspondent, Antoine Marie Moustache handed he equipment to the staffs. Seychelles is gearing up in all the aspects of preparation for any possible outbreak.

A joint venture by 14 countries East African project to tackle the bird flu pandemic led to the donation of equipments. Seychelles was not initially part of this team but later the FAO official Martin Smith who was assigned to Seychelles persuaded to include the country in the project. Then Seychelles underwent two training courses for livestock and veterinary workers and also was donated with the equipments. An invitation to a third course was also sent to Seychelles as an appreciation of their active participation. In case the locally trained technicians are not able to clearly distinguish any case then they can send samples to overseas laboratories or the reference laboratory. Mr Moustache. Moustache was very happy to know that international assistance would also extend their support in tackling the issue of the bird flu.
