Couch potato parents make couch potato kids!
It is an extremely common sight to watch kids comfortably settled in a beanbag, hastily nibbling from a king size packet of wafers, and staring blankly at a television or computer screen. At a time when they are meant to be full of beans, kids are seen opting for laidback activities.

Parents, undoubtedly, have a huge role to play in making or marring good habit formation, as children emulate parents in their ways. In the light of the alarming increase in childhood obesity, and the reason for many types of childhood illnesses, it would indeed do good to make physical activity and exercises an integral part of their lives.

If parents mingle with their kids and involve them in outdoor activities, children begin to imbibe the positive cues of physical activity. It is not absolutely necessary that all kids engage in competitive sport. Instead, even indulging in a 60-minute outdoor activity everyday will impact their health positively for life. Instead of encouraging indiscriminate television watching, even outdoor activities like gardening, walking the dog, will certainly help in ensuring more physical activity for our children

All Gadgets and no play? That's a load of excretion*. My parents, having taken away television, limiting internet access, and having snatched the X-Box cord found this new strategy working...until I was bombarded with homework. It began well without electronics, but there was no time for play. So while we are waken up early, which may create sleep disorders later in life, and are scolded by teachers, we arre only encouraged to be more "perfect". Perfect in the fact that if we can't keep up our physical stamina we fail, though no time for play. Perfect in the fact that if we make stupid mistakes, we are vigorously force-fed the information which may be swallowed without chewing. And much of the time when you swallow without chewing, you choke on something thats to big to process in one going. The "gizmos" aren't to fault. Lack of moderation in the amount of work instilled unto us is. a moderator in a class once a week is a thought. But I have very limited choices to opt for. Don't blame us
