Britain: Technology savvy patients are experimenting with medical consultations and patients are seen tapping the online medium to seek solutions to many of their medial ailments, especially ones they would like to hide in the closet.

Thrush, ringworm and urinary infections scored very high on the search list and back pain, stress and depression followed suit with its share of attention.NHS direct, the helpline is known to answer about 25,000 calls a day, while the website records 1.5 million visits a month.

GP Dr Mark Hamilton, who was behind the commencement of the survey said: "Chlamydia, ringworm or even depression could be in the top 20 because people may be too embarrassed to approach their doctor. Back pain, sciatica and irritable bowel syndrome seems more common nowadays because our modern and hectic Western lifestyles are playing some part in the illnesses we get."

According to the Dr.Hamilton, though a website cannot take the place of a Doctor’s personal consultation, the website sure did give them a wealth of information to be able to take the right decision.
