When Your Pet Forgets Who You Are

Alzheimer’s disease, characterized by dementia including forgetfulness, confusion and behavioral changes in humans has a newfound victim; cats.

Researchers Dr. Danielle Gunn- Moore, a cat expert and her husband Dr. Frank Gunn-Moore who works with Alzheimer’s patients came up with this find when they observed certain behavioral changes in their eight-year-old cat.

Investigations led to the discovery of proteins found similarly in the brain nerve cells of human patients.

According to Dr. Frank Gunn- Moore "It has given us an insight into molecular changes in the degenerating brain. From this we are trying to develop treatments to help cats and humans."

So, while danger signs include confusion, forgetfulness and changes in behavioral patters, suggestions to counteract this are a good diet, companionship and mental simulation.

So do remember to share a healthy anti-oxidant laden meal with your cat, keep her feeling secure and get her brains tickled with mental games.
