Glasgow: Its time to be merry, for Christmas is fast approaching. The Santa Claus, who are so much a part of the Christmas celebration, spreading cheer all around, are observed to be grossly overweight, and certainly not in the pink of health.
Doctors in Scotland have explained how most of the Santa, ringing in the Christmas season at departmental stores, are frightfully fat, and need to diet on a war footing. It is imperative they knock off atleast 7 inches at their waist, if they want to be around for next Christmas. The average waist size of Santas this season was an ample 47 inches.Health guidelines have recommended that a waist circumference of above 40 inches for men and 35 inches for women, calls for a reduction in the fat around the abdomen, as it increases the risk of lifestyle diseases.
Dr. Miles Fisher, consultant physician at Glasgow Royal Infirmary explained how abdominal obesity, which is also called as "central obesity", enhances the risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
So Santa Claus had better shape up or risk getting shipped out!
