Got AIDS – Try Pranayama

by Medindia Content Team on Jan 3 2007 11:33 AM

Swami Ramadev is a busy man today; fielding complaints from the public, a notice from the Union Health Ministry and threats of being taken to court, from an NGO.

The yoga guru had created public furor recently when he claimed to hold the key to curing AIDS by performing yoga and using his medicines.

Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss had earlier rubbished these statements, saying while he supported the practice of yoga, the yoga guru should not propagate unscientific claims.

Yet states Swami Ramadev "Instead of creating a controversy, what the Government should have done is to have appreciated my work in curing even one cancer patient. It would have been a great achievement in fighting cancer. It would have been so good if the government would have come to me and kept a proposal asking me to help them in this fight against cancer”.

Ramadev has now backed down from his claims of being able to cure AIDS.

Yet he states that the CD-4 count of AIDS patients can be drastically increased from around 19 to 350 or 400 through the performance of pranayama.

CD-4 cells are white blood cells in the human body, which have a defensive role against invading infection-causing agents. When these cells come under the attack of Human Immunodeficiency Virus in a person affected with AIDS, their numbers decline.

Swami Ramadev reemphasizes his claims that yoga and ayurvedic treatment can cure blood cancer, breast cancer, prostrate cancer, hepatitis and other chronic and genetic diseases.

He supports his statements with cases of cancer patients been supposedly cured through “wheat grass, tulsi juice, neem leaf juice and other ayurvedic preparations as well as yoga pranayama”.
