Fat Myth About Skimmed Milk

by Savitha C Muppala on Jan 8 2007 6:28 PM

New York: Most dieters swear by Skim milk and in their interest to shed weight, completely knock off whole milk from their diet.

A study was conducted recently with 19,000 middle-age women, habituated to consume one serving of whole milk or cheese each day. The finding revealed that such women had gained less weight as compared to those who shunned whole milk.

Supporting the previous endeavors underlining the benefits of calcium in fighting fat, Dr. Robert Heaney, Professor of Medicine at Creighton University is of the opinion that it is possible to experience a weight loss of nearly 15 pounds if the diet comprised of three to four servings of calcium foods on a daily basis.

On the same breath, studies such as the November 2004 study conducted by the University of Tennessee have refuted such claims. Additional research is required to throw light on the benefits of whole milk over skim milk in weight reduction.
