Results of Research Depends on Funding Agency

There are many agencies which are involved in different kinds of research. People should be wary of such research findings. Each agency may come out with different results on health and nutrition based on the funding agency.

In this connection, Dr. David Ludwig of Children's Hospital Boston and Harvard University says that there are numerous groups which conduct such researches. When an industry funds a study it is the normal trend of the researcher to toe the line with their sponsors. The result of an investigation depends totally on the funding agencies. Questions are asked to the respondents accordingly.

According to Professor Martijn Katan, of Vrije University, Amsterdam, this may result in giving a different picture on nutritional and dietary component which in turn may affect the scientific aspect.

Dr Ludwig considers the topic of nutrition to be of great significance in today’s world as it deals primarily with children. According to him, children are the deciding force in any purchase and food industry especially owes a lot to them. His team has conducted around 100 studies on soft drinks, juice and milk over a period of 4 years.
