A new study shows that the Israeli men have a longer average lifespan than most of the men in developed countries like Iceland, Japan, Switzerland, Sweden and Australia, where it is usually reported that people live longer on an average.

According to a Taub Center for social policy study published on Wednesday, healthy Israeli men live an average of 78 years. Israeli women live longer than men, average lifespan of 82.4 years, on par with the average in most other developed nations.

The Taub Center reported that high quality of health care in Israel is one of the main reasons for their extended lifespan, which under the nation's socialist medical system is available to all citizens and official residents. The report further suggested that the average lifespan could further be improved if the number of medical facilities is increased.
