There has been a forty percent increase in number of cases where operations have been cancelled in Great Britain. This has been due to non availability of sterile surgical equipments.

This was disclosed by Grant Shapps, Conservative MP. According to him the paucity of funds in the NHS is the sole reason for this sorry state. This in turn has affected the health care of patients.

According to Mr Shapps, the Government in a bid to get out of a financial crisis of NHS, has asked the hospitals to share the cleaning cost of surgical instruments. But this move has affected patients tremendously who come prepared to face a surgery.

Operations in the eleventh hour are cancelled by the surgeons when they notice the theatre equipments with traces of blood in them.

Meanwhile Department of Health spokesman claimed that the number of cancelled surgeries has dramatically come down and 99% of operations have been carried out as per schedule.
