Carmela Bousada, the world’s oldest mother admitted to a British newspaper that she lied to a U.S. Fertility clinic about her age, so that she could deliver her babies. She gave birth to twin sons named Pau and Christian on December 29, 2006.

Bousada, who turned 67 this month, lied by saying she was only 55, which was the clinic’s cut off age for treating single women. She said that she had to sell her house in Spain for raising $59,000, which has to be paid for the vitro fertilization at California Clinic.

Bousada had earlier told the Sunday newspaper that the clinic did not ask for her identification.

Dr. Vicken Sahakian, the medical director at the Pacific Fertility Center in Los Angeles, California, who treated Bousada said that as a standard procedure, patients requires to show their passport and added that he did not know that she was 66. However, the doctor denied giving any further information.

Bousada added that she is now searching for a younger husband to help her raise her two sons.
