Doctors Advise Shifting of Ailing Soren

by VR Sreeraman on Feb 7 2007 8:08 PM

A three-member medical board, who examined former union coal minister Shibu Soren in the Dumka central jail, has recommended the shifting of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief to provide him better medical care due to his deteriorating health.

Considering the swelling in his legs that portends serious heart ailments, the board felt that it would not be wise to keep Soren in Dumka, which do not have advanced medical facilities.

The board also recommended cardio-angiography for the former minister, said Dumka Civil Surgeon T. Hembrum, one of the board members.

Earlier, the JMM head could not appear before the Jamtara court Feb 3 due to poor health. The next hearing is on Feb 9.

Soren is serving life term after being convicted for the murder of his personal secretary Shahinath Jha.
