by Jyothsna on Feb 13 2007 11:19 AM

A New York teenager had an incredible recovery four days after his heart stopped functioning at the school gym. The medical fraternity considers this as nothing short of a miracle.

Daniel Walker was jogging at his school gym when he suddenly suffered from a cardiac attack. His heart stopped functioning due to a strained coronary artery reducing the heart capacity to only ten percent.

He was being treated at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital Columbia by cardiac surgeon Dr. Abeel Mangi. Walker was attached to a bypass machine which took care of blood transport to his entire body. A transplant was planned for Walker when he his heart suddenly started pumping blood and the capacity is even increased by 60%.

His cardiac surgeons are not able to account for this miraculous recovery and according to them it is the first time that such an incident had happened.
