Singapore to Offer Dengue Prevention Training to WHO Member Countries

by Medindia Content Team on Feb 13 2007 7:17 PM

Singapore's method of dealing with dengue is being held up as an example of what other countries should do to tackle the problem.

Following a three-day meeting of a group of World Health Organisation members, an international framework was formalised.

A roadmap for 2007 was laid out to help countries build capacity in controlling the disease.

Singapore's director-general of Public Health, Khoo Seow Poh, says the Republic will draw on its experience in dengue prevention to offer training to WHO member countries.

The framework will be further refined and shared with WHO member countries at a dengue meeting planned for the middle of the year.

The idea is to work on the framework and implement the plan at the end of the year.
