Immunity May Be Weakened By Insecure Feeling

Body’s resistance to fight diseases is said to be associated with insecure feeling. This was disclosed by an Italian research.

This research was led by Angelo Picardi of Italian National Institute of Health in Rome which was published in Psychosomatic Medicine. The study was conducted on 61 healthy women who were younger than sixty years of age.

It was found that women who were unable to form lasting and permanent relationships had a weaker immunity. This finding is in sync with a research suggesting a link between stress and immunity. This study also talks about the general character of an individual and the association to immunity which is termed as attachment insecurity which forms very early in childhood. The capacity to relate and trust others are all well laid in childhood. The relationship between child and parents also plays a key role.

Picardi studied the attachment pattern of women using a questionnaire and tested their blood to find out about their immune system. He found out that women with lesser attachment insecurity had a good immune system against diseases. However Picardi avers that his studies are preliminary and needs further exploration.
