Police suspect that a plane accident that left a father and young daughter dead in the mid-west state of Indiana may be a suicide crash.

Two people were killed Monday after the single-engine Cessna crashed under clear sunny skies at the edge of a small local airport in Bedford - into the home of a relative.

The plane destroyed the house of the former mother-in-law of the divorced 47-year-old pilot, The Bedford Times-Mail reported.

According to eyewitnesses, the pilot was approaching Grissom Airport for a landing when he suddenly made a 90-degree turn. Initial investigations showed the plane was intentionally crashed, a police spokesman said.

After the eight-year-old child failed to show up for school, the mother reported to police a possible kidnapping by her former husband.

The former wife's mother was sitting in the living room as the Cessna 150 crashed into her one-story house.

The woman said the man had been very possessive of his family and she worried he might do something to avenge himself on her daughter, Beth, over the divorce.
