In the Eye of a Storm- B&L Contact Lens Solution Recalled

New York- In an action replay of events just ten months ago, Bausch and Lomb, have recalled above 1 million bottles of contact lens solution, following reports of abnormal levels of iron content in the solution.

In 2006, the company had removed its product called ReNu with Moisture Loc solution off the shelf, following reports of being connected to a harmful fungus. The present problem is with the discovery of iron in ReNu MultiPlus contact lens solution, which is thought to impact the shelf life of the solution negatively. Further, this contamination could result in reducing the effectiveness of the solution.

So far, the company has received no adverse reports from consumers due to the contamination. The recall involved 12 lots and nine of those were from the United States.

The company spokeswoman Barbara Kelley reiterated that the risk to consumers was really negligible, as the recall pertained to the batch of raw material sourced from an external supplier. Nevertheless she cautioned consumers to discard any solution that portrayed any discoloration.
