I completely lost the sense of smell after sinus problems caused by allergy.It returns, but only temporarily after cortisone treatment. How can I make it permanent?

Some of my sense of smell has returned although it seems I smell ingredients of certain things, rather than the particular scent: fruit smell, oil smell, bleach smell. Ay ideas?
